The Lyric SV works, or systematic variations, are derived from my desire to progress the studies further using a new, more liquid, more lyrical, drawing technique, that I've been working on for a couple of years running in to my Current at Catto show. The idea was to create more fluid, more detailed studies, that I hope will be really satisfying to view over the longer term, as well as capturing some more painterly attributes. Mark making that may initially seem to lie outside the capability of a digital drawing system.
I made these initial two pigment print editions at 88cm high, and typically supply them in painted white tulip wood frames, made locally here in Bristol. They’re printed on 100% cotton Hahnemühle paper, using my 10 colour pigment printer, here in the studio, and are individually signed and numbered.
